Attempting to Pull Up!

I feel like all these new milestones are happening so fast! Kylee especially is really trying to pull herself up. She makes it up on her knees, but hasn't yet mastered getting all the way up on her feet.

This morning, she was trying to pull up on her little play table, and sadly she lost her balance, fell backwards and her table fell right on top of her! She has a little black eye to show for it, but she seems to be doing just fine. I guess I better get used to these spills, I'm sure it's just the beginning.

The girls now take baths in the big bath tub without their bath seats and they absolutely Love it!! They love having a little freedom, and they get very sad when bath time is over.

For some reason they both have been on Nap protest the last couple of days, and I am going bonkers! They just want to play and explore their world that their newly found mobility allows them to check out. Hopefully this phase will end sooner than later!

I just had to add a video of Kylee's new mad face. It cracks me up!

Our Fun Weekend!!

We were busy, busy this weekend. On Friday we went down to Grandma and Grandpa's house, and as all always the girls were as happy as could be! Apparently the girls really love the finer things in life, and love to eat grass, leaves and flowers. We spent quite a bit of time taking those out of their hands and mouths. They are so quick, its unbelievable!

On Saturday we went to a Birthday party for our friends son Brody who was turning 2. There were plenty of kids for the girls to look at, and as usual they were the center of attention. That party was followed by another party for their Great Grandma Inge's (Oma)birthday party. The girls were good and pooped by the time we made it home.

On Sunday morning we had a play day with Marcy's niece Addysin who is a little less than a month older than the girls. Addysin is much more mobile than K & K and I really go a good idea of what I'm in for once the girls really start moving!

Today Kaylyn learned how to get herself in the sitting position!! Everyday they are both getting better at the whole crawling thing. Kaylyn figured out that she can now sit herself up and get in her toy box and pull her toys out and she was thrilled with that!

Kylee's newest thing is to squish up her nose and breath really hard when she is mad. It's so funny, you can't help but laugh. Then when she sees that you are laughing she does it more. Its so cute!

Thankfully we have a pretty quiet week ahead, so hopefully we can relax a bit and get the girls back on their sleeping schedule! I hope everyone is doing well!

9 Month Appointment

The girls had their 9 month appointment this morning, and as expected they did great!! Here are the stats:
Kaylyn weighed 18lbs 9oz (60th percentile) and was 28" (50th percentile)
Kylee weighed 17lbs 1 oz (30th percentile) and was 28" (50th percentile)
I don't remember their exact head circumference but it was pretty big and in the 80th percentile for both of them.

The doctor said they are right where they would expect a 9 month old to be, so they are right on track and quickly making up for being so premature!

They both had to get 3 shots today to get caught up on their immunizations. They only cried for a second and then they were perfectly happy, and seem to be doing fine now.

Yay for a good Appointment!!

They're Both Crawling!!

Right after Kaylyn took her first few "steps" yesterday, Kylee followed suit!! They both started crawling on the same day! Although they are still a little wobbly they are on the move nonetheless!

The girls had their ophthalmologist appointment today and the Dr said that both of their eyes look perfect! Another preemie problem tackled! They don't have to be seen again for a year. I have no idea how we got so incredibly lucky to have such healthy premature babies!

Tomorrow is the girls 9 month pediatrician appointment. I will be sure to update with the current stats! I also thought I would throw in a video of Kylee getting herself into the sitting position...

New Milestones!

Kylee is now a pro at getting herself into the sitting position! It makes for a fun time when I am trying to get her to go to sleep. Now instead of laying down and crying and eventually falling asleep, she sits up and cries! I'm hoping that its just a phase. Not to worry, the crib mattresses have successfully been moved down, so we won't have any sky diving babies!

Kaylyn crawled 4 "steps" this morning!! This is the second time she has done this, so I am sure its not going to be long until she is cruising right along. Kylee isn't far behind her. I don't know that I am ready for 2 mobile babies!!!

We have been working quite a bit on name recognition and clapping. The girls get so excited when you clap for them, and they love Patty Cake!

I feel like we are hitting milestones like crazy lately!! Its so much fun to watch them grow and learn. I am so proud of my little girls!

Daddy comes home Tomorrow!!

Keith has been working like a mad man these past few weeks, and only has 4 days off this entire month! So needless to say the girls and I are so happy that he will be home in the morning, even if it is only for 24 hours and then he has to go back. He is doing such a great job taking care of us, and I am so thankful to have such a wonderful husband and father to my baby girls.

The girls and I have just been hanging out for a change. Its kind of nice being able to relax a little bit! I have really been trying to work on Sippy cups with them, and I feel like I am failing miserably! We have quite the Sippy Cup graveyard in our cupboard. I am pretty sure I have bought one of every type of sippy cup out there. Maybe they are still a bit young for it??

A while back I bought the girls some bows for their hair, and after looking at them they seemed fairly easy to make, so yesterday I decided to give it a whirl. Amazingly enough, they turned out pretty cute and they are really easy to make! I am tired of everyone asking me if they are boys even though they are dressed head to toe in PINK!

On Thursday the girls have an Ophthalmologist appointment and then on Friday they have their 9 month Pediatrician Appointment (I know, its a little late). I am not sure if they are going to get shots or not on Friday, but I am hoping not.

I hope everyone is having a good week!!

Developmental Appointment

Since the girls were so premature, they had an appointment yesterday to see how they are doing developmentally. The appointment went great!! They are right on track for their adjusted age, and very close to being at their actual age developmentally! They did great on all of their tests, and passed with flying colors. They don't need any kind of therapy, and don't have to be seen again for 9 months! I couldn't be happier! I really feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I have worried about this since they were born, and its so nice to know that they are right on track. Thank you for all of your well wishes and positive thoughts, it definitely paid off!!!

Kaylyn weighed 17lbs 12oz and Kylee weighed 16lbs 8oz. They are on the charts for their actual age, and over the 100th percentile for their adjusted age. I have little porkers.

After their appointment we went and had dinner with one of our favorite NICU nurses Jennifer. It was so much fun to get to see her and catch up. She had not seen the girls since they were discharged from the NICU back in December, and she was amazed at the progress they had made.

Our Playdate at the Beach!

Today the girls and I met my friend Kristin and her twin girls Sara and Siena at a beach in Carlsbad. It was the first beach trip for all 4 babies, and it went so great! Sara and Siena hung out in the bouncers, and Kylee and Kaylyn played with their toys and LOVED playing in the sand. They were both covered head to toe in sand. Thankfully, there was a shower so I gave them each a quick rinse and we were good to go. I was so preoccupied with making sure the babies had on enough sun screen that I failed to remember to put sunscreen on myself! Now unfortunately I have quite the sunburn on my back! Kristin and I were quite the spectacle parading around with 2 sets of twins!

While we were at the beach, Kaylyn got up on all 4's several times for the first time ever! I had to do a double take at first to make sure it was in fact her! Neither one of them is crawling yet, but they both have the army crawl down. They can pretty much get to where ever they want by scooting on the floor.

Yesterday the girls Walkers arrived! They are a huge hit! The girls love having mobility. They are still figuring out how to maneuver them, but they are getting better and better each time. Its nice to have another toy in the rotation.

Time to Move the Crib Mattress Down!

I went to get the girls up this morning to find Kylee sitting in her crib!! Somehow she managed to get herself in the sitting position all by herself. I think she was pretty happy about her newly found skill.

Both the girls have been babbling up a storm. Kaylyn can now "say", "Mamama", "Dadada", and "Bababa". Kylee prefers to just stick with "Mamama". Of course these "words" aren't actually associated with what it actually is, so I am not counting it as their first words.

The newest favorite toy in our house is a card board box. They love to bang on it and put stuff in it and retrieve it back out. Its one of the few toys that they will actually share (well, most of the time!).

That's all that's going on in our world!

Our Trip to the Lake

On Thursday we went down to visit Grandma and Grandpa and joined them on a little day trip up to lake Cuyamaca. It was such a nice day! The girls and I just relaxed and watched all the boys fish. We all had a great time.

Daddy took the girls to the park yesterday afternoon and let them swing on the swings, while I took a little break. It was nice to relax and not have to chase babies for an hour or so. Keith said they squealed with excitement the whole time. Apparently, it was a little too tight to put them both in one swing, so they each got their own. Unfortunately Daddy forgot the camera, so I might take the girls up there today and snap some pictures.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Puffs and Shopping Carts

Today my mom and I took the girls to Wal Mart and for the first time ever they rode in the child seat on the cart! They loved being able to see everything and check everything out. They did so good, and they didn't even start to topple once. They were totally bummed out when I had to take them out and put them back in their car seats to go home. While we were there, grandma bought them some cart covers so that they don't aquire all those nasty germs on those carts. I wish I would have had my camera, I would have taken a picture.

I decided that today was the day that I would try giving the girls Puffs. They are little flavored puffed grains. They did so incredibly good with them. I was so impressed, they even would pick them up off their trays with their thumb and index finger and put them in their mouths. They would then make a chewing motion with their jaws, and mash them with their gums until they were dissolved completely and swallow whatever was remaining.

Kylee is getting even closer to crawling. She can move one leg forward, but she hasnt mastered moving the other one or her hands just yet. Sometimes she will almost hop with her back legs, but her arms don't go anywhere. Its pretty cute! Kaylyn still has not made it up on all 4's just yet, but Im sure it won't be long. She has gotten pretty close!

9 Months Old Today!!

Happy 4th of July and Happy Birthday to Grandma!! We had such a fun weekend!! On the 4th we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a BBQ. There were lots of other kids there, and the girls absolutely loved that. I think they are going to be little social butterflies! Then yesterday it was our good friend Pollard's birthday, so we had another birthday to go to. It was so nice to have so many extra hands!

The only downside to all of our partying is that I think the girls schedule is all out of whack. They didn't take very good napes (if any) for the last two days, and we didn't get home until about 10pm last night. Kaylyn went straight down, but Kylee was content playing in her crib. Thankfully, neither one of them made a fuss going down though.

I can't believe that that girls are already 9 months old. It seems like just yesterday they were 2lbs and in the NICU. They are both doing very well (in my opinion) developmentally. They both have an appointment to check how well they are doing developmentally on the 17th of this month. That is when we will find out if they will need any kind of therapy to help with their skills. I am hoping that won't be necessary, but if it is I would rather get it taken care of now rather than deal with it later.

Kylee is Ready to Crawl!

Kylee has figured out how to get up on all 4's and even hold her head up at the same time! Today she was even rocking back and forth but we haven't made any forward movement just yet. I'm sure its not that far away though.

Both of the girls were on Nap protest today, which is never fun. Surprisingly, they weren't even that fussy for not sleeping all day. They were just too busy eating and playing I guess.

Kylee can also hold her own bottle now. However, she is a little stubborn (hmmm...I wonder where she gets that from?) and she will only do it if she has to. She is a little bit of a princess and prefers to be fed, which is totally fine. I don't mind feeding her one bit, especially since Kaylyn is the exact opposite and wants to do it all by herself. It is nice though every once in a while for her to be able to hold her own bottle if I am taking care of something else at the moment and don't have a free hand.

Tomorrow we are going down to Keith's parents to not only celebrate the 4th of July but its also Grandma's birthday! The weather should be beautiful, and I'm sure the girls will be ever so happy to go swimming.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun holiday weekend!

We're Home!!

We got home late last night, and the girls were already asleep. Keith and I had an amazing trip in Kauai. It was incredibly beautiful and so much fun, but I missed the girls terribly. I was so excited this morning when I got to see them when they woke up. Its so nice to be home.

The girls had a great week with Grandma and Grandpa. They went swimming almost everyday and from what I hear have now become quite the little fish. It sounds like they had so much fun! It must have not been that bad, because on the way home from the airport grandpa was already ready to plan next year's trip so they can spend another week with the girls.

Thankfully, the girls didn't learn anything new while we were gone, but they did perfect the art of sitting. They are both very good at it now. I could not believe how big they were when I got home, I swear they each gained 5lbs!

I am going to make the girls a Dr's appointment either this week or next for their 9 months shots, so we will see then exactly how much they weigh. They are doing so good, and are almost out of their 6 month clothes.

I Hope everyone had a good week!!
