No, Names, Reading, and Toddling

Kylee has learned to shake her head back and forth and I am trying to figure out how to teach her that it means no without abusing that word. Whenever she does it I always say "No, no, no" in a nice voice and hopefully eventually she will catch on. Its so funny, and she truly gets a kick out of herself when she does it.

They are both getting really good at responding to their names. We have been working on it A LOT and I think its finally starting to sink in!

Both of the girls are quite the little readers. In the last week they have both really taken to being read to. Before they would constantly grab at the book and try to eat it and not really pay too much attention. But now, they will both sit contently and point and the different pictures, and they really seem to enjoy it. This makes me happy because starting Sept. 9th we are going to start Baby Sign and Story time at our local library every Tuesday, so hopefully they will like that as well.

So right before I put the girls to bed tonight, I was making bottles and the girls were playing on the floor-Well I look over and Kylee is walking down the hallway pushing her walker! I am honestly surprised she didn't land on her face because her balance isn't all that good but she was just cruising right along. I would have grabbed the camera, but I was afraid she was going to eat it. They can both walk just holding on to just one finger with one hand, but they are pretty wobbly.

I hope everyone had a Great Weekend!!

Busy, Busy, Busy!!

The last few days have been crazy busy in our world. Last Friday we went down to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a visit, and that is where all the fun began. We didn't make it home until this afternoon.

On Saturday daddy put Kylee down for a nap with out anything on but her diaper, and I think he learned his lesson. This time he got to suffer through a poop fiasco! I just sat back and smiled, of course I was thinking "I told you so", but I would never say it out loud. He handled it like a champ.

Then on Sunday we went to Marcy's sisters house for a birthday party for Marcy and her sister (their birthday's are only a couple days apart). There were lots of other kids there and the girls had a great time.

On Sunday night Keith's cousins from Germany flew into town. It was so nice to see them (we met them 3 years ago when we went to Germany). Their English is pretty good, and whatever we can't manage to translate Great Grandma Inge is there to translate for us. They will be in the US for 3 weeks, but they have a busy schedule trying to fit in as much as possible.

Yesterday we went to Sea World with the Germans, Grandma and Grandpa, Great Grandma and Grandpa (Oma and Opa), and Auntie Danielle and of course Keith, the girls and I. The girls Loved it! I think they had an easier time seeing the animals because at the Zoo a lot of the time the animals are camouflage in their habitats.

The girls have been eating all kinds of new foods. They both ate Spaghetti, pancakes, eggs, crackers, cheese and other table foods. They are getting to be pretty good little eaters.

Everyday the girls get quicker and quicker! They are finding all sorts of new ways to get into everything. It definitely keeps me on my toes chasing after two babies.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Dog Food

Today the girls figured out that there is a whole new world beyond the living room, and have been exploring it extensively. Thankfully I am almost done baby proofing-key work being ALMOST! I went to the bathroom for no more than 1 minute and I came back and Kaylyn was sitting at the dog bowl eating dog food! YUCK!! Thankfully I got there just in time, and she only had one piece in her mouth and I quickly scooped it out. It wasn't more than an hour earlier that I had just got done telling my mom that I needed to move Bandit's food to a new location. I called Keith at work to tell him, and he laughed hysterically and said "I am so proud!".

Both of the girls are now pulling up and have even started cruising around furniture a bit. It was so cute when I got them up from their nap today and Kylee was standing in her crib smiling at me.

Everyone is taking bets when the girls are going to start walking. I said by Christmas, but I am beginning to think that is probably just wishful thinking on my part. I am so not ready for two Toddlers! How did this happen so fast!?!?

Every morning we watch playhouse disney, and the girls just love it. They have started "Dancing" and its the cutest thing! They sit on their knees, bounce up and down and flail their arms about. I laugh every time. I really need to get that on video!

Bubble Blower

We just got home from another wonderful weekend at Grandma and Grandpa's!! The girls did a lot of swimming, crawling and climbing! Grandma taught Kaylyn how to blow bubble in the water and hold on to the edge of the pool all by herself! Kylee is still pretty content just splashing up a storm.

Both of the girls are getting really quick! Its exhausting trying to stay one step ahead of two babies! They are also starting to get into everything! They both open drawers, cabinets and anything else they can manage to get their little paws on. It's so exciting to see them exploring new things, even if it does mean a little more work for mommy (or whoever happens to be watching them at the moment...)

I guess you know they are having a great time when they are both filthy, covered in dirt!! If that's the case I think they had a blast yesterday because their bath water was BLACK!

Keith and I got a day off on Saturday and went to the Del Mar horse races for our friend Kristin's birthday. Although we didn't win any money, we had a great time trying!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Baby Gym's

This week Keith, the girls and I tried out 2 separate Baby Gyms that have developmental programs. Yesterday we went to Gymboree. At first the girls were kind of overwhelmed by all the kids and play equipment, but after a little while they warmed up to it and enjoyed it. The kids have a chance to play, and sing songs. One of the big down falls to Gymboree is that is does not accommodate parents of twins. They have a 1 to 1 parent/child ratio. That would make things kind of difficult with Keith's work schedule. Today we went to My Gym, and not only is it 2 minutes from our house, but we like it a lot more! There were 3 awesome instructors (rather than 1 at Gymboree), it was a lot more structured, they offer a Twin discount, and if need be I can take them by myself!! I think this is the one we are going to go with. The girls had to so much fun!! They had a ball pit and all kinds of fun toys and equipment to play with. They also do Separation time where the parents leave the room for a few minutes so the kids can become accustomed to not always being with Mommy and Daddy. Kaylyn was quite the little ham at Today's class, she was laughing and "talking" the entire time, I think she is going to be our future class clown!

This weekend we are heading down to Grandma and Grandpa's to visit! Tomorrow Keith and I are going to go to the Del Mar races with our friend Kristin for her Birthday. G&G will be babysitting the girls. It will be nice to have an afternoon off and enjoy a little fun in the sun.

The girls can now pull themselves all the way up. Although they don't do it all the time just yet, and it does require quite a bit of work and concentration at this point (they will usually do it if they see something high that they want!!), its one more milestone that they have tackled...

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!!

10 Months Old!!

I know I say this every month that passes, but I cannot believe the girls are 10 months old already!! I am amazed at how fast the time has gone especially considering there were definitely days/phases that I thought were never going to end! They are both doing so well, and Keith and I are so proud of them. We could not be happier!

The girls are getting pretty quick the crawling. This week I have been working on baby proofing everything! If its small and looks tasty, no doubt it is going in their mouths! Last week Keith found $0.26 in Kaylyn's mouth. He saw her making a weird chewing face, so he stuck his finger in her mouth and pulled out a penny...she was still doing it, so he checked it again and there was a quarter in there too. Good thing he was paying attention, because Im sure that would not have felt good coming back out!

They also have perfected pulling up to their knees, although Kylee has made it all the way up a couple of times. All this new found mobility has caused quite a few more crashes while figuring out their limits and gravity.

I hope this blog finds everyone well. Thanks for Reading!
