Teeth!!!

For the last week or so the girls have both been getting their bottom two teeth in. Sadly, they have been pretty uncomfortable and understandably crabby. The teeth finally made it all the way through their gums and thankfully they are pretty much back to being their normal happy selves. That is until the next one's come in I suppose.

On Friday Grandma and Grandpa got home from their 3 week Vacation, and we went down to greet them for their Homecoming! The girls were so excited to see them again, and Grandma and Grandpa could not believe how they both had changed in 3 weeks.

Yesterday Aunt Danielle and her good friend Lindsay braved taking the girls out to the beach by themselves!! The girls absolutely adore them and they said the girls didn't cry once. Apparently my girls are slightly boy crazy and couldn't get enough of all of their guy friends.

Finger Painting!

I thought it would be fun to let the girls try out finger painting for the first time today! They had a blast, and made some beautiful art work. They were covered head to toe in paint, but thankfully it washed right off (even out of their hair!). I also made sure it was non-toxic before I bought it just in case one of them was to ingest any of it! Kylee put her head directly into the bowl of Green paint, apparently that's her favorite color! They had such a great time! I can't wait to do it again!

Kylee & Kaylyn's Hollywood Debut!

A while back I submitted Kylee and Kaylyn's pictures to a modeling agency, and then they wanted me to send more pictures of the two of them together and I didn't really get any that I particularly liked so I didn't pursue it any farther.

Well, on Monday the modeling agency called me and they wanted the girls to be "extras" in an Episode of ABC's "According to Jim". I talked to Keith about it, and we both agreed that it would be fun, and it wouldn't hurt for them to make a little money to put into their college account.

Today was the day of the taping. The girls call time was 1:15, so we left our house around 10 to give us plenty of time to get there. When we got there we were introduced to the staff and the cast of the show, then we were escorted to the girls own dressing room that included a sign on the door with their name on it! It was very cool, they had food and water and even 2 pack and play's set up so the girls could rest.

The girls were cast as little boys, so their wardrobe consisted of boy clothes. They were not in the show as twins, but we learned that many times they use twins because if one baby is not happy it's a lot easier to swap them out and use the happy one.

In this particular episode of "According to Jim", Jim Belushi that main character is a father of twins, and is hosting a Daddy play date. The dad's are all sitting around drinking beer and such...then they think it would be a good idea to have baby races and bet on their own babies. So the babies had to crawl across the set and race each other to the end. Kylee and Kaylyn did fantastic and won every race!

During one of the races, one of the little boys stopped mid race and got up and went over and started kissing Kaylyn on the cheek. Kaylyn was taken a little off guard by this, but it was very cute.

In another scene, Kaylyn was sitting on her "Dad's" lap, and she was just hamming it up for the cameras laughing and clapping and being silly. Everyone thought it was hilarious!

They had two wardrobe changes, and the different outfits they had to wear are pictured below. I have to say that they actually make pretty cute little boys!

The show should air sometime early next year, so I will be sure to let everyone know when it comes on. I can't wait to see it!!

First Tooth & First Steps

Today was a big day in our world!!

Kaylyn's first tooth is finally protruding through the gums!! You wouldn't know it by her temperament, as she has been perfectly happy but you can definitely feel it. I am excited to see how long it takes until it fully comes in!!

Kylee took her first steps today without holding onto anything!! I cannot even believe it! She was holding on to her little slide and she just took off. The first time she took 2 steps before falling...then after that Keith and I were working with her and she took as many as 4 steps several times. It's not going to be long until she is fully mobile!

Within the last couple of weeks they both have become incredibly ticklish! Its so fun to get them all worked up and laughing hysterically.

They are such a joy, I am such a lucky mommy!

I Almost Forgot

One year ago yesterday I was admitted to the hospital on strict bedrest for Pre-Term labor, scared out of my mind that I was going to have these babies at 24 weeks!! I cannot believe that its been a year already!

Thank Goodness I have 2 healthy, wonderful, thriving babies. We are so incredibly lucky and thankful to all of our friends and family that have been there for us during the last year! We could not have done it without you!

Many people have been asking me about gift ideas for the Girls Birthday Party, so I thought I would mention some here...
-Clothes 18m+ (they are already fitting snuggly into 12m clothes)
-Educational Toys
-DVD's (particularly one's that have a lot of music and songs, the girls LOVE that!)
-Books

Also, please do not forget to RSVP for their party by this Friday, Sept. 19th. Thanks!!

My Little Climbers....

These girls are going to cause me to go gray before I am 30!!! My mom bought the girls Pottery Barn Kids Anywhere chairs(as seen in the picture to the right), and I strategically placed them in front of the fireplace to avoid the girls from falling and breaking their heads open. Well, within a matter of minutes they both figured out how climb up them and onto the fireplace ledge!! They are now not only into everything, but on everything as well!! Kaylyn can climb the entire set of stairs with no assistance in no time at all! I told Keith that we just need to build a padded room to keep them in!

Kylee learned how to clap and she now does it all the time. Its so cute, and she is ever so proud of herself! They both will give high 5's now as well, which is kind of fun!

Yesterday we went to the NICU reunion in hopes of getting to see the Nurse's and Dr's that took care of the girls during the extremely long 10 weeks they spend there. Sadly, we were slightly disappointed and not one of the nurses that took care of the girls was in attendance.

The girls are both now able to stand without assistance for just a few seconds. This morning, Kaylyn even took a 1/2 of a step forward without holding onto anything. They still are not very sure of themselves, but everyday they get more and more confident!

Time for an Update

I haven't updated in a while because there really hasn't been anything new and exciting to report. Everyday the girls are perfecting their already learned skills, and figuring out how to get into everything! On a good note, they are both getting good at falling!

On Monday we had another Beach play date with Kristin and her twin Girls Sara and Siena. This time Keith got to go with us because he was off, so he introduced the girls to the ocean for the first time. Neither one of them particularly like it, but the more time they spent out there the more they got used to it. Kylee and Kaylyn also loved playing with Sara and Siena! They even helped bounce them in their bouncy chairs.

As we all know, Kylee is my little nudist. Well, today she took it to a new level. She managed to get her Pajama pants all the way off!! Thank goodness she left her diaper in place, so we didn't have a repeat of the poop fiasco! Pretty soon I am going to have to start duct taping that child's diaper to her!

Kaylyn is becoming more and more of a Mommy's girl everyday. She does not like to have me out of her sight, and often times she won't even let anyone else hold her if I am in the vicinity. Although its flattering that she likes me so much, it makes things really hard because I have two babies that need my attention.

I have taken up Digital Scrapbooking, in hopes of doing something creative with the thousands of pictures that I have. I am definitely not that good yet, but its a fun and relaxing diversion for me. Here is my first page...

11 Months Old!!

Well, this is my last monthly post before the girls turn One!! I can't believe it!! It is really hard to even fathom that 11 months ago, they were both fighting to survive and now they are thriving! They truly are little miracles! Both of the Girls are doing so many new and fun things!
*They will now respond to their names most of the time
  • Kylee can shake her head NO
  • Kaylyn can blow bubbles in the pool and bath
  • Trying to clap
  • Pointing at Things
  • Make Kissy Noises
  • Will attempt to mimic silly faces
  • Can stand alone for about 3-4 seconds
  • Cruising along furniture
  • Expert Crawlers (including climbing stairs)
  • Dancing
  • Eating all kinds of Solid Foods
  • They love to play with each other
  • Sleeping through the night (most nights!)
  • LOVE to read books
  • Getting into Anything and Everything!!
Both of the Girls are such good babies. They are so happy almost all of the time! Kaylyn has begun to show signs of some separation anxiety which is normal for this age. They are seemingly right on track for their actual (chronological) age, even though they are only 8 months adjusted.

We are still toothless, but that hasn't slowed them down from eating!! They love French Fries and Pancakes!! One of these days one of them will get a tooth!

Taking pictures of the girls is proving to be more and more of a challenge. It is so hard to get them both to cooperate at the same time!! Now that they are mobile, they are much more interested in exploring than posing.
