We've Got 2 Bottle Feeders!!

I can't even begin to tell you how well the girls are doing, and how far they have come. I love them more and more each day, and I cannot wait to bring them home!!

Both of the girls are over 4lbs now. Kylee weighs 4lbs 3oz, and Kaylyn weighs 4lbs 7oz. The occupational therapist came and saw them Friday, and assessed their ability to suck, swallow and breath all at the same time. They both did really well, so now they are allowed to take a bottle once a day. This morning was the first time they each took the entire bottle! That is such a huge step!!! Once they get better at it, they will start increasing the amount of times a day they can have a bottle until all of their feedings are by mouth (rather than by ng tube). The nurses tell me it could take a couple weeks to get to that point. But really that is the last big milestone they have to accomplish and they get to come home.

Kylee is still working on getting rid of her nasal cannula. They are lowering the flow little by little until eventually she will be off of it completely. I cannot wait to be able to look at her beautiful little face without that big honkin' cannula on there! Im sure she will be much more comfortably as well.

There is no denying that these girls are their Fathers Daughters. They are pooping machines!! Within 5 minutes of eating, they have already filled their diapers (just like their dad, minus the diaper part...) That is a good thing though, it shows that everything is working like its supposed to.

I cannot wait until I get to post that they are coming home! We are getting there. Slow and steady wins the race....
